Privacy policy
WildBooker is getting ready to launch. This policy explains what personal data we collect through wildbooker.co.uk, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have over it. We've kept it short and in plain English.
1. Who we are
WildBooker Ltd ("WildBooker", "we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We are a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17246166, with our registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

2. What we collect
If you join the waitlist: your first name, email address and whether you're a wildlife explorer or a guide.
If you apply to be a founding guide: your name, email address, where you guide, your speciality, your website or social media handle, how you run your trips and anything else you choose to tell us.
If you email us: your email address and whatever you include in your message.
When you visit the site: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you view, collected through cookies set by our website platform (see section 8).
We don't ask for payment details, and we don't knowingly collect any special category data. Please don't include sensitive personal information in the free-text parts of our forms.
3. How we use it
- To let you know when WildBooker launches and send occasional updates about the launch.
- To review guide applications, get in touch with guides about joining, and prepare guide profiles ahead of launch.
- To reply to your messages.
- To keep the website secure and understand how it's used so we can improve it.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for automated decision-making.
4. Our legal basis
- Consent: for waitlist and launch emails. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying to any email or contacting us.
- Steps before entering a contract: for guide applications, as you've asked us to consider you as a guide on the platform.
- Legitimate interests: for replying to enquiries, keeping the website secure and understanding how it's used.
- Legal obligation: where we need to keep or disclose information by law.
5. Who we share it with
We only share personal data with service providers who help us run WildBooker, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Squarespace: hosts this website.
- Formspree: processes our sign-up and application forms and passes submissions to us.
- Google Workspace: our email and the documents where we keep our guide records.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
7. How long we keep it
- Waitlist details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, or once we no longer need them for launch updates.
- Guide applications: for as long as we're in discussion with you, and if you join, for as long as you're a WildBooker guide. If we don't go ahead, we delete your application within 24 months.
- Emails: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and then for a reasonable period in case of follow-up.
8. Cookies
Our website platform, Squarespace, uses cookies that are needed for the site to work and for security, as well as analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as expected without them.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format and withdraw consent at any time. If you're in the EU, you have equivalent rights under the EU GDPR.
To use any of these rights, email hello@wildbooker.co.uk. We'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
This website isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, and we limit access to it to people who need it.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as WildBooker grows, particularly when bookings open. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
